Over. Achiever.

I have seriously created a hobby out of filling time. In a single day I could find myself finishing a two thousand word essay (when the requirement was only two hundred), selling photos on two different websites, deciding to learn to play Claire de Lune on the piano, playing baseball with my husband, writing the one hundred thousandth word in one of my novels, completing a pretty nifty prose poem, reading a Salinger, or d. all of the above. I’m also not above finding things to do that are out of my niche such as painting, violin tuning, and climbing rocks.

I’ve been a preschool teacher, a banker, a fast food restaurant manager, a musician, a wedding photographer, a barista, a mental health professional, and I’ve led groups on relapse prevention as a technician at an adolescent rehab. I also have a few positive memories selling fudge. Currently I’m a freelance writer. Who knows what I’ll be tomorrow.

I’ve been very lucky to end up with someone who’s as spontaneous as I am. I met my husband, Chris, in high school and ever since then we’ve made it a goal to drive the other way. We spend our weekends picking random directions on the road or taking a trip to a town with a funny name. We’ve been to Chicago, Los Angeles, Hollywood, above the rocky mountains, and we recently drove the eighteen hours to Daytona Beach in Florida. One day we’d like to take on the Yukon.

I recently gave birth to my biggest muse of all–Margot. Feeling her little kicks in my belly, meeting her on her birthday, and seeing her smile are just a few of the moments I am already storing within my heartbeat. This is why I’m alive. She is, above all else, my magnum opus.
